Colliding Utopian and Dystopian Worlds: Revising Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 and Ahmed K. Towfik’s Utopia

The article discusses two symptomatic texts that are imbricated within the utopian/dystopian ambience: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and Utopia Ahmed Khaled Towfik. style structure of selected novels revealed at level chronotope aimed clarifying correlation genre-forming components triad a ‘person – civilisation society’. This paper tests hypothesis discursive representation these in narrative is realised through colliding utopian dystopian worlds. Problematising this idea fiction reveals how tension between diametrically opposed worlds promotes critical scrutiny both to draw attention most pressing social problems facing humanity: role ordinary people society, impact mass media on public opinion, dissolution morals, disparity, drug addiction, etc. study primarily follows phenomenological-hermeneutic approach exploring theoretical practical aspects worldviews literary dimension. dichotomy utopia/dystopia manifests overt conflict different patterns life, mentalities, cultures.
